Job Description

SUMMARY The Machine Operator is responsible for the overall production and operation of a highly complex converting machine, including set-up, operation, troubleshooting, training, housekeeping and basic crew-level maintenance. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality machine performance within the designated department while supporting overall production goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up, operate, and monitor assigned converting machinery to produce products that meet customer specifications, company quality standards, and production schedules. Identify, troubleshoot, and report mechanical or electrical issues affecting machine performance, performing basic adjustments when appropriate and escalating maintenance concerns as needed. Inspect product output throughout the production process to ensure compliance with quality standards and promptly report any non-conforming materials or production issues to production management. Accurately record and maintain production data within the designated production software systems to ensure reliable operational reporting and traceability. Maintain an organized and efficient work area by staging materials, managing workflow, and supporting smooth machine operation and production continuity. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines, proactively identifying and reporting safety concerns to minimize workplace risk. Collaborate with production leadership to achieve performance objectives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, output, and operational effectiveness. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. 4-6 years of machine operation experience preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting. Previous experience in a corrugated manufacturing facility preferred. Ability to read, interpret, and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines. Reliable attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment. Demonstrated understanding of training methods within a manufacturing or production operation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues or irregularities during production. Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a prolonged period as well as bending and stooping regularly. The job duties will require the employee to utilize repetitive fine manipulation with hands. The employee must use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities for this job include close vision, distance vision and depth vision.
