This position is responsible for accurately weighing raw materials according to approved formulas and batch instructions, producing small batches of inks, coatings, adhesives, and related products, and packing completed products into the required containers for shipment . This is a hands-on production position requiring accuracy, consistency, cleanliness, organization, and strict adherence to written formulas and procedures . The Batch Weigher / Small Batch Ink Mixer does not develop or modify formulas but is responsible for producing and packing products exactly as instructed. Responsibilities Accurately weigh raw materials according to approved formulas, batch tickets, and work instructions. Verify raw materials prior to use, including item number, material description, lot number, and required quantity. Produce small production batches of inks, coatings, adhesives, and related products. Add ingredients in the correct order and quantities specified by the formula. Operate mixers, scales, dispersers, and other production equipment as trained and authorized. Monitor mixing times, speeds, temperatures, and other required processing parameters. Maintain accurate batch documentation and material usage records. Record raw material lot numbers to maintain proper traceability. Properly identify and label work-in-process and completed batches. Pull samples and submit completed batches to Quality Control when required. Make only adjustments specifically authorized by Quality Control, R D, or management. Communicate immediately when a formula, material, weight, or batch instruction appears incorrect or unclear. Pack-Out & Shipping Preparation Pack approved finished product into the correct pails, jugs, drums, kits, or other specified containers. Accurately weigh or measure finished product during pack-out. Verify correct product, container size, quantity, and packaging requirements before packing. Apply correct product labels and required identification to finished goods. Ensure containers are properly sealed, clean, and suitable for shipment. Assemble kits and multi-component products according to established instructions. Prepare finished products for shipment, including boxing, palletizing, wrapping, and staging as required. Verify finished quantities against production orders and shipping requirements. Identify and report damaged containers, incorrect labels, shortages, or other packaging issues. Stage completed orders in the appropriate shipping or finished-goods area. Coordinate with Warehouse and Shipping personnel to ensure completed products are ready for customer shipment. Additional Responsibilities Return unused raw materials to their proper storage locations. Maintain accurate material identification and prevent cross-contamination. Clean mixers, tools, containers, scales, and work areas between batches. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe weighing, mixing, and pack-out area throughout the workday. Properly handle and dispose of waste materials according to company procedures. Follow all required PPE, chemical handling, and safety procedures. Review Safety Data Sheets and follow established handling requirements. Assist with inventory counts and reporting raw material or finished-good discrepancies when needed. Assist other Production, Warehouse, or Shipping functions as operational needs require. Perform other production-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, batching, chemical production, ink manufacturing, coatings, adhesives, packaging, or a similar environment preferred. Experience weighing ingredients or following production formulas strongly preferred. Experience with product packaging, pack-out, or shipping preparation preferred. Strong basic math skills, including decimals, fractions, and unit conversions. Ability to accurately read and follow written formulas, production orders, and packaging instructions. Strong attention to detail. Comfortable using scales and accurately weighing materials and finished products. Ability to follow established procedures without unauthorized substitutions or formula changes. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to communicate clearly with Production, Quality Control, R D, Warehouse, Shipping, and management. Ability to work independently while following established production priorities. Comfortable working around industrial chemicals and manufacturing equipment while wearing required PPE. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the workday. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and handle production and packaging materials. Ability to regularly lift approximately 50 lbs. Ability to safely move drums, pails, boxes, containers, and raw materials using appropriate material-handling equipment. Ability to perform repetitive filling, sealing, labeling, and packaging activities. Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, and other equipment as required. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who is careful, consistent, productive, and takes ownership of the product from weighing through final pack-out . Accuracy matters throughout the entire process. A weighing error, incorrect material, wrong container, incorrect label, or packaging mistake can result in wasted product or an incorrect customer shipment. We are looking for someone who verifies their work, follows instructions exactly, maintains accurate records, keeps their work area clean and organized, and makes sure finished products are properly packed and ready to ship.
