$20-$26 per hour Company Overview Creative Flavors & Specialties is a family-owned manufacturer of custom flavors, seasonings, and specialty ingredient blends. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Compounder to join our production team. Position Summary The Compounder is responsible for accurately weighing, measuring, and blending raw materials according to approved formulas and production instructions. This position requires close attention to detail, proper documentation, safe equipment operation, and strict compliance with food-safety and quality procedures. Primary Responsibilities Review assigned formulas, batch records, and packaging requirements before beginning production. Confirm the proper sequence of ingredients and mixing instructions. Retrieve and verify ingredients listed on each formula. Ensure that only properly identified and QC-approved raw materials are used. Accurately weigh and measure liquid and dry ingredients using approved scales and measuring equipment. Compound and blend products according to established formulas and written procedures. Complete assigned batches accurately and within the expected production timeframe. Record ingredient lot numbers, quantities, yields, and other required production information. Submit completed batches for quality-control review and approval. Package approved batches into the appropriate finished-product containers. Apply accurate product labels, lot codes, and identification information. Stock production supplies and label raw-material containers as needed. Safely operate mixers, blenders, pumps, filling equipment, and other production machinery. Inspect equipment before use and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, containers, and production areas according to established procedures. Follow allergen-control, cross-contamination-prevention, and material-handling procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, HACCP procedures, and food-safety requirements. Perform other production-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One to three years of food, flavor, chemical, pharmaceutical, or related compounding experience. Experience weighing, measuring, mixing, or blending raw materials. Ability to read and follow formulas, batch records, and written production instructions. Basic understanding of proper ingredient sequencing and special compounding instructions. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Familiarity with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). Previous manufacturing-equipment operating experience. Experience safely handling chemicals, flavors, extracts, powders, or other industrial ingredients. Basic math skills, including weights, measurements, and unit conversions. Ability to complete production records accurately and legibly. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a production team. Preferred Qualifications Three years of direct food or flavor-compounding experience. Experience operating industrial mixers, ribbon blenders, pumps, or filling equipment. Experience working in a food-manufacturing environment with minimal training or ramp-up required. Knowledge of allergen controls, sanitation procedures, lot traceability, and food-safety documentation. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the production area for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, and handle ingredients and finished products. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment available when required. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment. Ability to work around food ingredients, flavor compounds, powders, and strong aromas. Ability to maintain accuracy while working in an active manufacturing environment.
