Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Stitcher Machine Operator is responsible for the efficient operation, setup, adjustment, and maintenance of saddle stitcher machines. This role ensures the production of high-quality stitched books and signatures, adhering to specified standards and performing continuity pulls throughout the production run.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
Set up, adjust, and operate saddle stitcher machines to ensure optimal performance. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or irregularities, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
Quality Control:
Inspect stitched books and signatures for quality issues, ensuring they meet specified standards and customer requirements. Conduct regular quality checks and continuity pulls throughout the production run to ensure consistency and quality. Document and report any quality issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for corrective action.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of production schedules. Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve any production-related issues.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience operating saddle stitcher machines (Muller Martini) or similar equipment preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine-related issues. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience in a commercial print or finishing environment. Knowledge of other bindery equipment such as cutters, stitchers, or collators. Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move between production devices to load and unload required. Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting repetitively for extended periods of time.
