Job Description

Carlyle Cocoa is searching for a full time employee to operate a highly technical deodorizing machine to ensure cocoa butter is properly deodorized to meet customer requirements and product demand. Job duties include continually monitor temperature pumps, line pressure and other controls. Review computer program during operations and make adjustments accordingly. Conduct CIP when machine is not in use. The successful candidate will also perform general maintenance and mechanical work when not running the machine. This position will be is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; however hours may vary depending on product requirements therefore the candidate must be flexible to work a different hours, nights and/or weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Consistently monitor the temperature, pumps, line pressure and other controls to make sure that the machine is operating efficiently and effectively
  • Monitor the quality of the cocoa butter as it goes in and out of the machine
  • Tasting/testing product for proper quality
  • Ensure product is in spec to customers' needs.
  • Perform analytical and sensory analysis on in process and final product
  • Continually review SCADA during operation and make machine adjustments accordingly
  • Develop and implement appropriate deodorizing schedule to maximize use of the machine as well as meet customer demands
  • Conduct CIP as well as other preventative maintenance when machine is not in use
  • Perform tank to tank product transfers to ensure proper product routing
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitation in deodorizing room and control room
  • Assist in production scheduling when needed
  • Serve as back-up Shift Supervisor as needed
  • Able to work different schedules as necessary due to product/customer demands
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Technical Manager, Production Manager and/or Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school degree or equivalent, two year technical or associates degree a plus
  • At least five years of relevant experience operating technical machinery
  • Experience reading and understanding SCADA (or equivalent computer routing system) and P&ID
  • Experience in food production industry
  • Black seal high pressure boiler license preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Able to work a twelve-hour shift when needed as well as weekends
  • Able to work different schedules as needed due to customer demands
  • Able to read, understand and interpret SCADA (or equivalent computer routing system) and P&ID
  • Highly developed math and analytical skills
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities
  • Attention to detail and good organization skills
  • Able to read and understand English
