Embroidery/Heat Press Machine Operator TBG Uniforms Store - 3.0 Brooklyn, NY Job Details Part-time From $17 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits On-the-job training Flexible schedule Qualifications Machine operation English High school diploma or GED Machine operation safety procedures Full Job Description Embroidery Machine Operator & Garment Finishing - School Uniforms & Medical Scrubs Position Summary The Embroidery Machine Operator & Garment Finishing employee is responsible for preparing, embroidering, heat pressing, inspecting, and completing orders for school uniforms, medical scrubs, and other garments. The employee will operate a Barudan embroidery machine and Heatronix heat-press equipment while maintaining accuracy, quality, organization, and productivity. Essential Responsibilities Operate and monitor the Barudan embroidery machine safely and efficiently. Prepare garments, hoops, backing, thread, needles, and other materials required for embroidery. Properly hoop and position school uniforms, polos, jackets, medical scrubs, and other garments. Load and verify embroidery designs before production. Accurately position logos and designs according to order specifications. Trace and confirm design placement before beginning embroidery. Select and use the appropriate thread colors and materials. Monitor embroidery production and address thread breaks, needle issues, alignment problems, and other production issues. Inspect completed embroidery for proper placement, stitching quality, and overall appearance. Rework or correct embroidery when necessary. Heat Pressing & Garment Finishing Operate heat-press equipment safely and according to company procedures. Prepare garments for heat pressing, including proper positioning and alignment of designs, names, numbers, logos, or other decorations. Verify garment type, size, color, and design placement before pressing. Select appropriate temperature, pressure, and pressing time according to the material and application being used. Inspect heat-pressed garments for proper adhesion, placement, and appearance. Correct or report improperly applied designs. Keep heat-press equipment and the surrounding work area clean and organized. Follow all safety procedures when operating heat-press equipment. Order Prioritization & Productivity Follow the established priority order for embroidery and garment-finishing orders. Complete designated priority orders before moving to lower-priority orders unless management provides different instructions. While an embroidery order is running and does not require immediate attention, use available time productively to complete other assigned duties, including heat pressing, garment preparation, organization, or other tasks as assigned. Maintain an appropriate and consistent work pace, particularly during busy periods and seasonal increases in orders. Do not substitute lower-priority embroidery orders for designated priority orders without management approval. Ask management for clarification if an order's priority or instructions are unclear. Order Organization & Quality Control Keep embroidery and heat-press orders organized and separated to prevent order mix-ups. Verify customer/order information before beginning work. Confirm garment size, color, design, and placement requirements. Inspect completed garments before they are released for pickup or shipment. Minimize wasted garments and materials by carefully checking placement and equipment settings before production. Report damaged garments, incorrect items, or production issues to management promptly. General Production Responsibilities Maintain a clean and organized embroidery and production area. Restock embroidery and heat-press supplies as needed. Notify management when supplies or materials are running low. Assist with other assigned production tasks when embroidery or heat pressing does not require immediate attention. Follow all company procedures and management instructions. Qualifications Previous embroidery-machine experience preferred. Experience operating Barudan embroidery machines preferred. Experience with heat pressing garments preferred. Experience working with school uniforms, medical scrubs, apparel, or similar garments is a plus. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Good organization and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple orders according to management's direction. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the production area for extended periods. Ability to handle, position, and organize garments and production materials. Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with hooping, garment preparation, embroidery, and heat pressing. Ability to safely operate embroidery and heat-press equipment. Ability to follow all applicable workplace safety procedures. Communication & Accountability The employee is expected to promptly communicate with management regarding: Machine or equipment problems Difficulty completing an embroidery or heat-press application Garment or material issues Incorrect or unclear design placement Missing order information Production delays Supply shortages Any issue that may prevent an order from being completed according to company expectations
Overall Performance Expectation:
The employee is expected to produce accurate, high-quality embroidery and heat-pressed garments while following assigned priorities, maintaining an appropriate work pace, using available production time efficiently, and completing other assigned duties when the embroidery machine or other equipment does not require immediate attention.
