LJ Smith Stair Systems is hosting a hiring event on October 6th and 7th from 9a.m. to 4p.m. at the TownePlace Suites in New Philly for openings at our Bowerston manufacturing warehouse. We are looking for dependable, safety-minded candidates to join our manufacturing teams in roles such as CNC Machine Setup & Operator, Utility Worker, and Material Handler/Forklift Operator. The CNC Technician will be responsible for creating, revising, and verifying drawings, 3-D solid models, machine coding, tooling, and fixturing to support the businesses environment. This role is expected to be actively involved in daily operation of the shop floor to ensure processes, schedules, and procedures are being followed and to provide support to process improvements of this and other departments.

Pay/Schedule:

$18-20/hour | 6:30am - 3pm The Utility Worker supports manufacturing operations by assisting machine operators with the loading, processing, inspection, sanding, packaging, and stacking of wood products. Ensures quality standards, production goals, and safety requirements are met while maintaining a clean, organized work area and supporting equipment performance and operational needs.

Pay/Schedule:

$15-$17/hour | 4:30am-3pm (or 4:30am-1pm) and 6:30am-3pm, depending on shift and overtime needs The Material Handler/Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the warehouse using a Power Industrial Truck (PIT). This role ensures accurate inventory control by scanning, verifying, and transporting materials to designated locations, maintaining product accuracy and integrity. The Material Handler supports warehouse operations by identifying and communicating discrepancies or safety concerns, following all PIT safety requirements, and complying with company policies and procedures.

Pay/Schedule:

$18-$20/hour | 4:30am-3pm Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions and procedures. Basic math, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to work safely using PPE and company equipment. Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting and moving materials up to 100 lbs. Ability to obtain forklift certification through company-provided training. Flexible schedule with the ability to work overtime as needed. Distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial equipment experience preferred. Knowledge of building materials is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 100 lbs., with or without assistance. Ability to reach, grasp, and safely operate equipment and controls. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and twist as needed. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around wood dust. Ability to safely handle heavy, bulky, and awkward materials.
