Job Description
SUMMARY Operates, sets up, adjusts, and receives training on machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, boring machines, and grinders, to machine metallic work pieces according to standard operating procedures by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Basic Machining- Go to holding area or last operation to retrieve parts.
- Load and run the part per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Start machine, run part and unload onto racks for next operations. Monitor machine while in operation for any adjustments that may need to be made.
- Make offsets as needed to stay within tolerance.
- Blow out chips with air hose between every part to avoid quality issues.
- Change tooling per prescribed tool change frequency or replace any broken or dull tooling as needed.
- During set-up retrieve part from the non-conforming area to minimize scrap risk and ensure proper quality.
- Replace tooling when there is a changeover.
- Material Handling - Move material to and from area as needed, retrieve parts from QC as needed, go to stockroom for supplies and/or tooling as needed. Quality Assurance
- Check parts after they have been run through machine per Control Plan and Process Sheet. Record results per Control Plan. Check for rust, remove debris from oil holes, and check for scratches/marks (remove if possible). Determine if part is ok to pack or to be sent to the next operation.
- Check inserts in machines and replace as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation is signed and attached to WIP skid or box before shipping.
- After a change of fixturing or new tooling, take a part to QC for inspection.
- Inform Supervisor of any Quality issues. Safety Management/Housekeeping
- Clean up metal shavings/dirt/oil/grease throughout the shift and at the end of each shift. Pick up air hoses and any other cords and tools. Sweep and mop floor in area.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment as required per the job.
- Conduct themselves in a safe and courteous manner.
- Complying with the health and safety procedures in each area he/she is required to work.
- Bringing to the attention of site supervisor or safety committee any unsafe condition, practice or circumstance immediately.
- Not attempting to move or lift heavy or bulky objects beyond his/her capacity.
- Reporting all work-related accidents, incidents, injuries and illnesses no matter how minor they appear, to the Supervisor immediately and fill out green sheet (form#......) prior to the end of shift.
- Complying with Company's HazCom program.
- Review MSDSs for products they use.
- Reporting the use of fire extinguishers to the Safety Coordinator immediately and fill out a green sheet (form#.....) prior to the end of shift.
- Inspect hoisting equipment prior to use on a daily basis.
- Use equipment properly Documentation Processing
- Recording and submitting paperwork according to job requirements, for example: Time slips Serial Numbers OK to run tags Oil Cards Non-conforming tags Travel Tags SPC documentation Safety documents/reports And any other required forms. Teamwork

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with four place decimals. Also need to be familiar with both the English and Metric measuring systems.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If job requires operation of Forklift, a Company sponsored Forklift license is required. If the job requires operation of a Magnaflux machine, a Magnaflux Level I Certification is required.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must regularly maneuver parts with hoist up to 50 pounds and occasionally maneuver parts with hoist over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. If an individual has a pacemaker, they need to inform their Team Leader/Supervisor. Some operations/processes cannot be performed if an individual has a pacemaker. If an individual is required to operate a Magnaflux machine as part of their duties, they must pass the visual acuity test and color contrast.WORK ENVIRONMENT
