Scherer Inc. is continually growing! We are in need of a motivated individual to assist in its expansion to Ohio as a Machine Operator! For 30+ years, Scherer Inc. has produced replacement kernel processor rolls, offers a complete line of mill rolls for both stationary and portable roller mills and provides a full-service manual machining service for both repair and small production runs.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Schedule :

Four 10-hour days/week. Work schedule may vary between Monday-Thursday shift and Tuesday-Friday shift. OT may be required based on business need. Machine parts to print specifications using machine tools. Manually operate grinders and various hand tools to produce parts, typically in a production setting. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school diploma/GED. Experience in manual machine shop helpful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Run variety of machines : Operate roll grinders, tool grinders, planers, cranes, forklifts, etc. Roll grinding : Operate roll grinders to keep up with flow of work, includes minor maintenance and cleaning. Carbide grinding : Sharpen tools needed for corrugating. Customer loading/unloading : Assist loading and unloading customer using cranes and/or forklift. Move and organize rolls to maintain the work area. Roll corrugating : Operate corrugators to cut new or trace cast and steel mill rolls. Roll transportation : Safely operate cranes and forklift to accomplish daily tasks. Also assist manual department with bringing mill rolls from outside that need machine work and removing old rolls that can be taken outside. Machine maintenance : Clean, inspect and maintain manual machines as needed. Oil and grease as needed.
