Location:
Elk Grove Village, IL (Transitioning to Seville, OH)
Schedule:
Full-Time, Monday-Thursday, 10-Hour Shifts Join Our Plant Transition Team! We are seeking motivated and dependable General Machine Operators to join our manufacturing team during an exciting period of growth and facility relocation. This position will begin at our current facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois , where employees will work four 10-hour shifts per week (Monday through Thursday) for approximately 2 to 3 months . Following this transition period, our operations will relocate to Seville, Ohio , and employees will continue their employment at the new facility. Candidates must be willing to work in Elk Grove Village during the transition and relocate to Seville, Ohio once the move is complete. Employees who successfully support the transition and remain employed through the relocation will receive a guaranteed transition bonus, paid within their first year of employment. Travel & Relocation Support To support employees during the temporary assignment in Illinois, the company will provide: Hotel accommodations while working in the Elk Grove Village area Mileage reimbursement at the current federal mileage rate Food stipend during the temporary assignment Guaranteed transition bonus paid within the first year of employment upon successful relocation to Seville, Ohio Position Summary We are looking for self-driven individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude who are eager to learn multiple machines and processes involved in the manufacturing of steel rule products. Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, commitment to quality, and a strong work ethic. This role offers the opportunity to become cross-trained across multiple production processes and equipment while contributing to a specialized manufacturing operation Essential Responsibilities Operate and monitor various production machines used in the manufacturing of steel rule products. Learn and perform multiple manufacturing processes across different departments as needed. Read and use digital micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify product quality and specifications. Perform machine setup, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting. Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures. Maintain an organized and safe work environment. Edging Machine Operations Process raw steel coils through edging equipment. Perform skiving, edging, and beveling operations on steel rule material. Monitor quality and ensure specifications are met throughout the process. Beveling Machine Operations Apply custom bevel profiles to steel rule after edging or punching operations. Set up and operate beveling equipment. Perform inspections to verify product quality and consistency. Control Line Operations Process large steel coils into smaller coils or strips according to production requirements. Package and label finished products for inventory or shipment. Maintain accurate product identification and inventory documentation. Punching Machine Operations Operate punching machines to add custom notches and features to steel rule products. Verify finished products meet customer and engineering specifications. Curving Machine Operations Operate curving equipment to transform flat steel rule into rotary coils. Process steel rule from a horizontal flat profile to a vertical curved profile. Operate curing ovens and monitor product quality throughout the curving and curing process. Inspect finished rotary rule to ensure compliance with quality standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or machine setup experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn multiple machines and manufacturing processes. Ability to accurately read digital micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments. Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Steel rule die industry experience is a plus but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work safely around moving mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
