Job Summary The Extruder Operator is responsible and accountable for assuring all formulas are manufactured according to Q&FS specifications and QMP standards in support of the Company's Quality and Food Safety principals. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The main point of contact for all resources in the processing area of the plant Coordinates all processing area activities and a safe, food safe, and efficient manner in alignment with shift, area, and plant goals Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level Assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance Maintains accurate records of QC checks, production numbers or waste performance Performs all shift support documentation in a quality matter Performs QC tasks such as magnet checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, equipment attributes, all extruder and dryer system process control checks, etc. Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality: Performs all standard quality checks & other quality related duties Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories Responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work area Other duties and responsibilities as assigned This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions. Education/ Experience Requirements Basic qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language Preferred qualifications include: 3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment 2 years of work experience within manufacturing Working knowledge of food safety practices Computer Experience Knowledge of inventory control principles Expected Areas of Skills Ability to follow instructions Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and express ideas with team members Knowledge of and compliance with Safety, GMP's, and environmental procedures and regulations Basic computer skills ( ability to access, input, and retrieve information ) Ability to Read/Write/Speak and understand English Ability to be flexible regarding work schedules and shift rotations (including nights, weekends, and holidays) Ability to work in a standard manufacturing environment Physical Requirements Ability to work in an environment that has a wide range of temperature, variation, and humidity Lift varied capacities over the following time periods Lift and carry 65 pounds repeatedly in an 8 or 12 hour period Push and pull 50 pounds repeatedly in an 8 or 12 hour period. Objects being lifted weigh up to 50 pounds include bags of raw materials and performing changeovers on equipment. Consequences of not being able to lift these bags include not being able to run the needed products / diets. This could result in a significant risk to our customers and brand Climb ladders and stairs Work on overhead equipment Walk unlimited distances every work day. Push or pull 800 pound totes on wheels across a cement surface 8 to 24 times for 8 hours Work with hands overhead occasionally Bend at waist 90 degrees and flex at knees 120 degrees 100+ times for 8 hours. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
