Job Description

Shearer Operator - Job Description We are seeking a 1st Shift Shear Operator to become an integral part of our team here in a Wooster, Ohio! We offer a consistent work schedule, insurance options and competitive pay. The ideal candidates will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely.
Responsibilities:
  • Sets up and operates power shear to cut metal objects, such as plates & sheets
  • Must inspect work, using tape, compass, gauge, template, or micrometer to verify dimensions.
  • Lays out cutting lines on metal, using rule, square, or template when shearing single pieces.
  • Safe operation of all equipment including but not limited to shears, forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Verifies material against job traveler by sight and/or measurement.
  • Prepare material for fabrication or sales orders to be packaged
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Previous jobsite or factory experience in assembly function required
  • Ability to handle physical workload
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Strong organizational skills

  • Life Insurance The job duties of a shear operator is to set up and safely operate the production machines which may include shears, saws, pneumatic tools and deburring tools in the warehouse.
Under minimal supervision, load, unload, and move materials within shop, and/or warehouse. They must be able to demonstrate proficiency in shop mathematics with the ability to calculate decimals and fractions figures. Recognize materials and saw to customer and/or job specifications.
