Job Summary:

The neck-down operator will set up and operate machinery that forms the neck or shoulder of the can determined by customer specifications. In addition to operating machinery, the neck-down operator will champion the packaging process of the aluminum cans for customers.

Job Duties:

Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling. Set up and operate all neck-down equipment. Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on neck-down related equipment. Observe machine operations to detect machine faults and make adjustments necessary for the line. Communication with fellow operators to update on production. Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans are meeting job specifications. Proficiently perform changeovers and production of aluminum containers to the specifications set by the customer. Stack finished items for further processing or shipment. Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions. Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager. Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Basic computer skills. The ability to see details at close range. The ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. Blueprint reading. Ability to solve problems. Possess excellent verbal communication skills. Measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc. Strong mechanical aptitude. Quality control skills. Must be a team player and possess a "can do" attitude. Ability stand for long periods of time on concrete floor. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Work Environment:

This role is in a manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled. Employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts that produce noise.
