In this role, you will set up and operate a high-performance CNC fiber tube laser cutting system to produce quality parts from a variety of tube and structural profiles. This is a hands-on production role with opportunities to grow your skills in a fast-paced, AS9100D-certified shop serving aerospace, defense, and industrial customers. What You'll Do Set up and operate a CNC fiber tube laser cutting machine to cut round tube, square tube, rectangular tube, angle iron, channel steel, and I-beams. Load and run cut programs using a touchscreen CNC control system; adjust cutting parameters as needed to maintain part quality. Stage and load raw material using automated loading systems; safely handle tube stock per machine capacity guidelines. Monitor the cutting process and unloading system throughout each job, correcting alignment or quality issues as they arise. Read and interpret job travelers, work orders, and engineering drawings to verify correct quantities, dimensions, and part numbers. Inspect finished parts using calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges against drawing requirements. Replace cutting consumables including nozzles, lenses, and ceramics; perform daily operator maintenance per equipment guidelines. Keep the machine and surrounding work area clean and organized; dispose of scrap and slag per shop procedures. Complete production paperwork accurately, including job travelers, part counts, and scrap logs. Follow all company safety rules, quality standards, and OSHA requirements at all times.
What We're Looking For Required:
High school diploma or GED. At least 1 year of experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment, a tube laser, press brake, or similar CNC fabrication machine. Ability to read basic engineering drawings, cut lists, and work orders. Comfortable using measuring tools including calipers and tape measures. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality across a full shift. Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred:
Prior experience on a fiber tube laser cutting system. Familiarity with tube nesting software and CNC program management. Experience with automated material loading and unloading systems. Knowledge of common metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum tube. Exposure to ISO or AS9100D quality systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods on a concrete production floor. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted; team lifting required for heavier material. Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, metal dust, and fumes. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate touchscreen controls and handle small consumable components.
