Job Title:
CNC Laser Operator Job Description Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to accurately cut metal materials in accordance with work orders, blueprints, and production specifications. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality, precise parts through careful machine operation, inspection, and documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to cut sheet metal and other metal materials according to work orders and engineering blueprints. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production specifications to determine cutting paths, tolerances, and material requirements. Coordinate with material handling support to ensure raw materials are properly loaded and unloaded onto laser cutting equipment. Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality, accuracy, and production efficiency. Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify part dimensions. Confirm that all dimensions and tolerances meet customer requirements and engineering standards before releasing parts to the next process. Troubleshoot minor machine issues and communicate more complex maintenance needs promptly to supervisors or maintenance personnel. Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection results, and machine documentation, to support traceability and quality control. Follow lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices to reduce waste, improve workflow, and enhance overall productivity. Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a manufacturing environment, including proper use of tools and equipment. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating laser CNC cutting equipment. Proficiency in operating CNC laser cutting machines for sheet metal and other metal materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production specifications accurately. Strong understanding of laser operation and cutting processes for sheet metal. Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures for dimensional inspection. Ability to verify dimensions and tolerances against customer and engineering requirements. Basic troubleshooting skills for minor machine issues and ability to recognize when to escalate maintenance needs. Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining production records and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes for material movement. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices. Experience with CNC programming or machine setup is a strong plus. Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on metal fabrication and CNC laser cutting. You will work around industrial laser cutting equipment, sheet metal, and material handling machinery such as forklifts or cranes. Available schedules include a weekend shift Friday through Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., where you work 36 hours and are paid for 40, and a weekday shift Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with regular overtime opportunities. Expect a production-oriented environment that requires adherence to safety protocols and appropriate industrial work attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
