At a premier, locally owned metal fabrication shop in Portland, you'll help craft high-end custom metal displays for retail spaces, events, and prototypes. Your work turns drawings into flawless components that delight clients who expect the best. A Day in the Role 6:00 AM - You review the day's nests and verify drawings before loading material. Load sheet and tube stock, set up the AMADA laser, confirm parameters, and follow best safety practices. Monitor runs, adjust as needed, and record laser runtime on nesting sheets. Inspect each part for dimensional accuracy and surface quality; tag and organize by part number or work order. Apply the shop's established metal reburn processes to maximize material use. When lasers are idle, jump into general fabrication tasks to keep production flowing. 2:30 PM - Hand off smoothly by coordinating details with Shift Leads to ensure continuity. What You'll Bring 2+ years operating laser cutting machines, including 1+ year specifically on AMADA lasers. Fluency in reading complex blueprints (architectural and shop drawings). Meticulous attention to detail to catch discrepancies between drawings and parts. Clear, professional communication—written and verbal—with teammates and clients. Self-directed problem solver who can multitask and stay productive with minimal oversight.

Role Details Pay:

Up to $30.00/hr, depending on skills and experience.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.

Location:

Portland, OR. Core Responsibilities Operate sheet and tube laser cutting equipment safely and efficiently. Verify nests and drawings before loading; inspect finished parts to meet strict specifications. Locate/load raw materials; sort and label finished parts by part number or work order. Document laser runtime on nesting sheets and follow established metal reburn practices. Assist with general fabrication tasks and coordinate shift hand-offs with Shift Leads.
