- This Machine Operator role supports a spring manufacturing and production facility in Reading, PA.
You will set up and operate a variety of specialized machinery, perform quality inspections on springs and related components, and handle raw materials and finished parts safely on the shop floor. The position is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
- Responsibilities
- + Set up and operate CNC machines, torsion machines, and extension machines according to shop floor orders and manufacturing procedures.
+ Operate acetylene torches, trim presses, looping machines, stress relief ovens, and wire bending machines to manufacture springs and related components.
+ Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure spring dimensions, initial load requirements, and tension meet specifications.
+ Test and verify spring measurements and performance against documented standards and production requirements.
+ Handle, move, and lift raw materials and finished parts safely, following established material handling procedures.
+ Read and follow shop floor orders, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures to complete production tasks accurately and on time.
+ Support general production activities such as assembly, packaging, and inspection as needed to meet daily output goals.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements while operating machinery.
+ Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and ensure smooth workflow across the manufacturing line.
- Essential Skills
- + Proven ability to operate manufacturing machinery such as CNC machines, torsion machines, and extension machines.
+ Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or general labor environment.
+ Hands-on machine operating skills, including setup, basic adjustments, and safe operation.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how equipment functions and how to troubleshoot basic issues.
+ Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling raw materials and finished parts throughout the shift.
+ Attention to detail and accuracy when performing inspections and quality checks on springs and components.
+ Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers on the production floor.
+ Commitment to following safety procedures, shop floor orders, and manufacturing instructions consistently.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Background in spring manufacturing, production work, assembly, or general production is beneficial. + Experience with inspection and quality control processes in a manufacturing setting. + Familiarity with packaging and general production support tasks. + Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on meeting production goals and maintaining quality standards.

- Work Environment
- This role is based in an established, traditional manufacturing facility in Reading, PA focused on spring production.
You will work around heavy machinery and industrial equipment, including CNC machines, torsion and extension machines, acetylene torches, trim presses, looping machines, stress relief ovens, and wire bending machines. The environment is production-oriented and fast-paced, with tasks that involve standing, moving, and lifting throughout the shift. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear and safety glasses, and you are expected to follow all safety and shop floor guidelines while on site.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $21.
00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
