Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to produce precise metal components according to technical specifications. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality production, adherence to safety standards, and efficient workflow. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming, and a keen eye for detail to support our commitment to excellence in metal fabrication. Responsibilities Set up CNC laser cutting machines by interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, ensuring proper tooling and calibration. Operate laser cutting equipment safely and efficiently, adhering strictly to safety protocols and operational procedures. Program CNC laser machines using CAD/CAM software to optimize cutting paths and material utilization. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser machinery to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Conduct quality inspections using precision measurement instruments to verify dimensions and surface finishes meet specifications. Adjust machine parameters as needed based on inspection results or production requirements. Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine maintenance logs, and quality control documentation. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve process efficiency and product quality. Ensure compliance with safety standards in all aspects of machine operation and workplace safety protocols. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages and software such as CAD/CAM systems. Experience operating CNC laser cutting machines, plasma cutters, or similar metal fabrication equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge related to machine operation, tooling setup, and maintenance. Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Skilled in the use of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges for quality inspection. Familiarity with shop math, basic math calculations, and precision measurement techniques. Knowledge of safety standards applicable in manufacturing environments including proper handling of machinery and materials. Experience with other manufacturing processes such as welding, forming machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, or press brake machines is a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety. Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement in machining processes.
