Inclusive Excellence Statement Advertised Job Summary The University of South Carolina is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Printing Services Production Specialist to help produce high-quality printed materials for the university community. This position supports daily print production by operating digital printing, bindery and finishing equipment while ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and on schedule.
Responsibilities include:
  • Set up, operate and make precise adjustments to sheet-fed and roll-fed digital printing equipment using toner
  • and latex-based technology.
  • Produce a variety of printed materials while maintaining quality standards and meeting established deadlines.
  • Operate bindery and finishing equipment for booklet making, paper cutting, folding, scoring, perforating, numbering, coil and comb punching/insertion, and related functions.
  • Perform operator-level equipment maintenance and follow established departmental procedures and safety practices.
  • Work closely with supervisors and managers to prioritize workloads, coordinate production schedules and meet customer needs.
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality and proper finishing.
  • Make deliveries and pick-ups as needed in support of Printing Services operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating digital print-production and finishing equipment, strong attention to detail, the ability to make accurate mechanical adjustments, and a commitment to dependable customer service. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple assignments, work collaboratively with others and contribute to a productive, deadline-driven environment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing with administrators and other employees.
  • Able to cope with numerous interruptions and the stress of tight deadlines.
  • Able to calculate mathematical computations to confirm accurate measurements and quantities.
  • Confidentiality and good reasoning skills are required.
  • Able to independently lift and move cartons weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to safely operate a delivery van.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential to maintain productivity. Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma with a minimum of three (3) years digital printing and/or bindery experience.
  • The ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and make routine repairs to equipment.
  • Able to think analytically and creatively to consider alternative ways to work through challenges.
