Denton, TX Job Details Full-time $19 - $23 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Lifting equipment Dimensional inspection Moving Forklift Metal materials Personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence Shop math Dimensional measurements Industrial equipment Manual handling Materials handling Safety standard operating procedures Material handling equipment operation Material handling safety practices Full Job Description Position Summary Operate industrial metal-cutting saws to produce material and parts that meet cut order, customer, and Aero-Vac requirements. The Saw Operator is responsible for accurate setup and cutting, maintaining material identification and traceability, safe material handling, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read and understand cut orders, work instructions, sketches, dimensions, and material identification requirements. Must be able to perform basic shop math, use measuring tools as required, communicate clearly, follow Aero-Vac procedures, and work safely around industrial saws and metal stock. Strong forklift operating skills are required, including safe and confident handling of heavy metal stock in an industrial shop environment. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Collect and review assigned cut orders before beginning work. Verify heat numbers, material descriptions, dimensions, and quantities match the cut order. Confirm material meets work order requirements and review the cutting configuration for proper yield. Set up and operate assigned band saws and other approved sawing equipment safely and efficiently. Safely and proficiently operate forklifts to move, load, unload, stage, and position heavy metal stock and finished material. Measure and verify cut dimensions during production to ensure parts meet specified requirements. Identify material from each heat lot with a paint marker and keep heat lots properly separated. Maintain and transfer complete material traceability when stock is cut into multiple pieces. Account for blade kerf, required tolerances, and usable stock when planning cuts. Verify completed material and documentation comply with the cut order before releasing the job. Remove loose chips and debris from completed parts before releasing them to final inspection. Clean saws and surrounding work areas throughout the day and perform required scheduled cleaning. Report damaged blades, equipment problems, unsafe conditions, or material discrepancies to the Supervisor. Follow all shop safety rules, material-handling procedures, and quality requirements. Perform additional saw-department duties as directed by the department Supervisor. Physical Requirements This is a physical shop position requiring regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling of metal material. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to safely handle material and work around industrial machinery for the duration of the shift. Personal Protective Equipment Requirements Safety glasses / protective goggles are required while working in the saw department. Steel-toe safety boots are required. Additional PPE must be worn when required by the task, equipment, or Aero-Vac safety procedures.
