Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Equipment Operators support environmental remediation projects by safely operating machinery such as skid steers, loaders, backhoes, and graders. Operators are expected to follow strict safety protocols, maintain equipment, and contribute to efficient site operations. This role includes three levels of progression based on equipment complexity, time in role, and field leadership. Operators begin with basic equipment and may advance to more complex machinery and site coordination responsibilities as they develop their skills.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate heavy machinery (e.g., skid steers, loaders, backhoes, graders) with increasing complexity by level. Perform daily safety checks, basic maintenance, and minor repairs. Load/unload equipment and maintain clean, safety-compliant job sites. Follow operational instructions and report equipment issues promptly. Support remediation tasks including excavation, material handling, hand digging, and site prep. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Crew Lead Responsibilities (Operator II and above): Coordinate daily tasks and ensure crew alignment with site instructions. Communicate with supervisors and project managers to support field execution. Monitor safety compliance and mentor field technicians. Complete documentation and relay field updates as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED preferred. 1-2 years of relevant experience. Valid Driver's License and a good driving record. Ability to travel to remote jobsites during all phases of a project. Good work ethic Team Player with a professional attitude. Physically able to lift 50 lbs., walk, bend, and stoop repeatedly for extended periods of time. Strong commitment to safety Capable of passing a pre-employment drug screen and required safety trainings Must be at least 21 years old (ins. requirement)
PREFERRED SKILLS
Oral and Written Comprehension, Expression, Recognition, and Clarity. Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve challenges.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Time Management - The ability to prioritize tasks to best serve the flow of the current work needs.
