Job Title:
Form Operator Assistant Job Description This role provides hands-on support to a Form Operator team that sets up and runs heavy machinery to bend, shape, and cut sheet metal. You work closely with experienced operators to assist with daily production tasks, material handling at the press brake, and general shop operations, ensuring parts meet required specifications and production runs smoothly. Responsibilities Provide additional support to the Form Operator team in operating heavy machinery used to bend, shape, and cut sheet metal. Work alongside experienced team members to assist with daily production tasks and maintain consistent workflow. Support material handling activities at the press brake, including loading, unloading, and organizing sheet metal parts. Perform team lifts and lift assists as needed, lifting up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance. Measure parts using tape measures, calipers, and other tools to verify dimensions and angles meet required specifications. Assist with quality inspection of parts to ensure they meet production and safety standards. Read and interpret blueprints to understand part requirements and assist operators in setting up machines accordingly. Contribute to general shop operations and production support, including keeping work areas organized and equipment ready for use. Collaborate with operators working on shear, press brake, laser, punch press, and CNC press brake equipment as needed. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience using measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers. At least 1 year of machine operating experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to perform quality inspection tasks to verify parts meet specifications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for sheet metal and production work. Experience working with sheet metal in a manufacturing or fabrication setting. Capability to lift 50 lbs independently and participate in team lifts up to 100 lbs. Basic familiarity with machine operation, including press brake, shear, laser, punch press, and CNC press brake equipment. Comfort working with tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other measurement devices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Exposure to manufacturing environments, with metal fabrication experience strongly preferred. Press brake experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is highly valued. Experience supporting material handling and production operations in a shop or plant setting. Attention to detail and commitment to following safety and quality procedures. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from experienced operators and supervisors. Work Environment This position operates on a third-shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday. You work in a manufacturing shop environment around heavy machinery such as press brakes, shears, lasers, punch presses, and CNC press brakes. The role involves regular material handling and lifting, frequent use of measurement tools and inspection equipment, and close collaboration with a production team in an active, fast-paced setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Seguin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
