Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator is responsible for overseeing a specific production process to ensure high-quality products are manufactured and machine standards are consistently followed. This role involves operating production equipment, monitoring performance, and supporting smooth, safe, and efficient manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Operate production equipment such as winders, grinders, hoppers, or load products from the conveyor into the boring machine as directed. Maintain a clear understanding of different types of raw materials and ensure they are used at the appropriate manufacturing locations. Monitor machine operations, observing lights, gauges, and other indicators to detect malfunctions or irregularities. Perform regular quality checks on products to ensure they meet established standards. Examine, measure, and weigh materials or finished products to verify accuracy and consistency. Promptly inform the shift supervisor of any product quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company guidelines. Collaborate with team members and support production goals by assisting in related tasks as needed. Follow written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and standard operating procedures. Perform any other duties assigned by the company as needed to support manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues and effectively multitask in a fast-paced production environment. Basic mathematics skills to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations related to production and quality checks. High attention to detail with a willingness to learn and follow established procedures. Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness, with a strong team-oriented mindset. Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area, following safety and housekeeping standards. Verbal and written communication skills in English to understand instructions and document information as required. Organizational skills and strong attention to detail to manage tasks and maintain accurate records. Time management skills with a proven ability to meet production deadlines. Physical ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED is required.Preferred:
1 or more years of experience as a Machine Operator. Preferred experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience with machine operation and basic machine maintenance. Exposure to production, assembly, and troubleshooting in an industrial setting. Familiarity with forklift operation and overhead crane usage in a plant environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings. Basic understanding of electrical concepts related to production equipment. Work Environment This role is based in a production plant environment with dedicated areas for manufacturing, grinding, shipping and receiving, and maintenance. Work is performed around industrial machinery such as winders, grinders, hoppers, boring machines, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The schedule includes multiple shifts (A, B, C, and D) and may involve 12-hour shifts, with efforts to structure work to avoid weekend requirements. The environment is active and fast-paced, requiring adherence to safety protocols and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and orderly workspace. Team members work on the plant floor in typical industrial attire suitable for operating machinery and handling materials, with appropriate personal protective equipment provided in line with safety guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fernley, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
