POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Yard Services Supervisor, the Brick Cutting Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and accurate operation of automated brick cutting equipment in the Yard Services area. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, maintaining production schedules, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success . • Operate automatic brick cutting machines and associated production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Start up, monitor, adjust, and shut down machinery according to established operating procedures.
• Ensure equipment settings meet production specifications and quality requirements.
• Verify cutting dimensions, tolerances, and product standards throughout production runs.
• Continuously monitor machine performance and production output.
• Maintain optimal machine operating conditions to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
• Perform machine changeovers and production adjustments as required.
• Ensure materials are properly fed, aligned, and processed through the cutting system.
• Remove defective products and report recurring quality issues. Quality Control
• Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Conduct routine dimensional checks and visual inspections.
• Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation.
• Report any deviations, defects, or abnormalities immediately.
• Work closely with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve product quality concerns.
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Basic Mechanical Maintenance
• Perform routine equipment inspections before, during, and after production.
• Conduct basic preventive maintenance activities as assigned.
• Lubricate moving parts and mechanical components according to maintenance schedules.
• Replace simple wear components when authorized.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and make adjustments to maintain production.
• Assist maintenance technicians during repairs and equipment servicing.
• Identify early signs of mechanical failure, excessive wear, or operational abnormalities.
• Maintain clean and organized equipment to promote reliability and longevity. Manual Equipment Operation
• Operate manual production equipment, power tools, and shop tools safely and effectively.
• Utilize measuring devices and hand tools to verify dimensions and equipment condition.
• Assist with manual material handling activities when necessary.
• Safely use grinders, pneumatic tools, cutting tools, and other manufacturing equipment as required.
• Perform minor mechanical adjustments using standard shop tools. Production Performance
• Meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Minimize material waste and maximize operational efficiency.
• Accurately record production quantities, downtime events, and equipment performance data.
• Monitor production flow and communicate operational issues proactively.
• Support process optimization initiatives and productivity improvements.
• Participate in problem-solving activities related to production output and equipment reliability.
• Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
• All other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned.
• Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of manufacturing, production, or industrial equipment operation experience preferred.
• Experience operating automated machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience operating manual equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to read measurements and use measuring instruments accurately.
• Basic understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Basic math skills required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, customers, and superiors.
• Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
