Job Summary:
The Setup/Service Coordinator is responsible for assembling, inspecting, and preparing outdoor power equipment for customer purchase or showroom display. This role ensures that all products—such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, generators, pressure washers, and similar equipment—are assembled safely, accurately, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications. This role supports the store's operational efficiency by ensuring ready-to-sell equipment is properly built, tested, and visually presentable.
Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
Verify all incoming shipments to be accurate by comparing invoice to the order Unbox, inspect, and prepare equipment for display and customer pickup. Identify defective parts or missing components and report issues to management. Assemble outdoor power equipment using hand tools, power tools, and manufacturer-provided instructions. Follow all manufacturer assembly guidelines and retail store safety procedures. Perform initial setup and basic functional testing, including adding fuel/oil where appropriate, adjusting controls, checking safety features, and verifying proper operation. Maintain accurate assembly logs, service tags, and product readiness statuses. Help technicians with triage; pre-clean equipment prior to technicians working on equipment. Assist with minor adjustments or troubleshooting issues prior to sale. Keep the assembly and staging area organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards. Ensure adequate supply of assembled equipment to replenish sales floor Ensure equipment is clean and fueled Assist with loading and unloading of equipment Support stocking, merchandising, and occasional customer service needs during busy periods. Organize and sort merchandise within the warehouse by properly unboxing and storing goods in their designated location. Collaborate with the sales and service teams to prioritize assembly needs based on customer orders and seasonal demand.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
Basic knowledge of equipment being worked on or sold Mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow detailed assembly instructions. Ability to operate outdoor power equipment in a safe manner Excellent communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organization skills Ability to execute assignments in an accurate, timely manner, prioritizing in accordance to their importance Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude Ability to follow directions, both written and verbal in English Other duties, as assigned by management.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience assembling outdoor power equipment, small engines, or similar mechanical products. Familiarity with popular brands (e.g., STIHL, Husqvarna, Toro, Honda, Cub Cadet, Echo, etc.). Basic understanding of small engine operation, fuel systems, and safety practices. Forklift or pallet jack experience. Previous retail, service, warehouse or equipment handling experience

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent

At least two years' related experience required
Work Environment:
Primarily outdoor lot area with exposure to varying weather conditions Noise level may vary due to running equipment, or in service areas Must adhere to all safety protocols when handling and demonstrating equipment; use of PPE, as required Regular exposure to dust, fumes, grease, gas, oil, and other airborne particles commonly found in a repair setting. Performance of the duties of this job could expose the person to potential hazards including noise, chemicals, paints, fuels, dust, heat, moving parts, and operation of mechanical or electrical equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry and move up to 80 pounds occasionally, 75 pounds regularly Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Frequent bending, stooping, pivoting, climbing, and reaching Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights Manual dexterity to operate equipment controls and perform basic demonstrations Ability to wear various PPE, including fall protection harnesses, seat belt restraints and gloves
Travel:
This role may be temporarily assigned to an alternate location, as business needs demand Other duties: May require occasional overtime during peak seasons
