Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator sets up and operates manufacturing equipment, supports assembly and logistics activities, and helps ensure that products meet quality and safety standards. This role involves operating machines and forklifts, performing quality inspections, using computer systems for production and logistics tasks, and contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Operate manufacturing equipment in accordance with all relevant work instructions, quality plans, and internal policies. Operate forklifts and other industrial vehicles in compliance with OSHA safety guidelines and internal procedures. Perform quality inspections on incoming products, in-process manufacturing, and finished goods following established work instructions and quality plans. Interact with computer systems as required to support production and logistics functions. Initiate, maintain, and continuously improve cleanliness and organization in the manufacturing area. Maintain a safe, quality-focused, productive, and positive attitude at all times while on the production floor. Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and all levels of the organization. Lift up to 50 lbs frequently and stand for the majority of working hours, using full range of motion to bend, reach, and lower as needed for manufacturing processes and job duties. Work flexible hours as required, including off shifts, weekends, and holidays when necessary to support production demands. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management to support manufacturing, assembly, and logistics operations. Essential Skills Ability to operate manufacturing machines safely and efficiently. Ability to operate forklifts and other industrial vehicles in alignment with OSHA safety guidelines and internal policies. Experience performing basic quality control checks on materials and finished products. Ability to interact with and use computer systems for production and logistics activities. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and stand for extended periods while performing physical manufacturing tasks. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization. Willingness and ability to work various shifts, including off shifts, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to understand and use basic measurement tools such as dial calipers and micrometers. Ability to understand and use basic hand tools safely and effectively. Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift operator's license and any other required industrial vehicle certifications. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC machines or other automated equipment is a plus but not required. Ability to operate a computer with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with SAP or similar enterprise systems is a strong plus. Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings of manufactured products. Mechanical aptitude and interest in machine operation, assembly, and general manufacturing labor. Familiarity with packaging processes and the use of tools such as tape measures and calipers. Background in quality control, machine operation, forklift operation, or general warehouse work is beneficial. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
