Job Description

Basic Functions :
1. Verify type of steel and visually check backs in magazines, identify and segregate to determine necessary machine adjustments. 2. Adjust shelling machine to accept backed blade and produce shelled blades of acceptable quality. 3. Load blade & back assembly machine with blades and backs, operate and inspect, unload backed blades and place in shell machine, check and remove defective blades to proper location. 4. Load backed blades and shelling materials to shell machine, operate and inspect, unload shelled blades to carton or cases. Remove defective blades to proper location. 5. Diagnose troubles, make mechanical and dimensional adjustments, time machines, clear jams, repair or replace machine parts and maintain specified machine speeds. 6. Observe blades for proper shelling and salvage, if necessary. 7. Fill and clean glue pots. 8. Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain S/E back forming presses. 9. Perform own material handling such as getting and asiding blades, backs, shelled blades, filled cartons or cases from or to trucks, carts and skids. 10. Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain equipment to produce slit material of acceptable quality. 11. As required, inspect raw material, and slit material to insure production of acceptable quality. 12. Perform all material handling duties required in operation such as obtaining raw material, banding and asiding slit material to designated areas. 13. Unload, weigh and dispose of scrap. 14. Lubricate slitter equipment as required. 15. As required, remove, replace, and adjust machine parts and fixtures. 16. Identify the need for preventive maintenance. 17. Perform various packaging duties as required. 18. Keep machines and work area clean. 19. Maintain required production records. 20. Perform such other duties as may be assigned as resulting from Continuous Improvement or to facilitate product flow.

Practice good 6S habits daily along with any, and all, related assigned duties as required related to safety and housekeeping in assigned work areas. 3. Based on job knowledge and experience, contribute continuous improvement ideas on an on-going basis and participate in Continuous Improvement Events as requested.
Qualifications:
Applicants must provide documentation of out-of-plant qualifications and related experience.
Experience Requirements:
Six months as blade & back assembly operator/adjuster. If these qualifications are not met, then must have six months of general mechanical experience.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
High School diploma or GED is required. Physical Working Conditions (Physical Capacity): Should be able to withstand normal standing activities, lifting up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis. Environmental conditions are generally good. Should have nominally good eyesight, eye-to-hand coordination, depth perception and color vision. The duties described above are representative of the types of tasks routinely required of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related tasks consistent with job rating factors may be required.
Pay:
$27.59 - $30.48 per hour
