Job Description

We are currently seeking to hire Yard Staff personnel. This is a first shift position, hours are 6:00 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.
m. with overtime likely during the busy season.
Typical Job Duties include:
Move, stack, and handle finished trusses, bunks of lumber and cut lumber carts. Help unload and load trucks. Manage the truss stacker. Perform general back-up duties for Saw Catcher and Saw Picker positions. Operate forklift to move lumber carts, trash, etc. Mark trusses with tag numbers. Use metal strap banders to tie truss batches together. Empty dumpsters and trash and perform general area clean-up duties. Perform all duties in a safe manner
Physical Requirements:
Sitting (on forklift or other equipment) Walking/Standing
  • moving about the yard completing various tasks Lifting/Carrying (often done on uneven ground)
  • up to 25 pounds on a regular continuous basis; 25
  • 50 pounds on a frequent basis; 50
  • 100 pounds on an occasional basis Work in an outdoor environment Qualifications include: Ability to use tools such as tape measures, saws, squares, hammers, power tools, etc.
Good understanding and use of arithmetic along with ability to use a calculator Ability to read and follow engineered drawings Good understanding of lumber sizes, grades, types and where they are used in trusses Strong knowledge of forklift use and types to handle many different lifting types Ability to work in a team environment Consistent and reliable attendance Nelson Truss, is a truss design and manufacturing company seeking reliable employees with a strong work ethic.
