Starts at $18.00 / hourSummary:
Operate various work centers, including drill presses, mills, CNCs, and similar equipment. Operate multiple machines simultaneously as required. Verify and maintain quality of work produced. Monitor machines and tooling to ensure proper and safe operation. Complete all required tags, cards, and charts.Duties and Responsibilities:
Start-up machines, including operator PM procedures. Load parts and operate machines safely and properly following established operating procedures, work instructions, or direction from the supervisor or lead. Verify parts meet print specifications and check frequently or per work instructions throughout the shift; obtain assistance as needed to maintain nominal dimensions. Shut down and report any process that is not operating properly to the supervisor or lead. Operate multiple machines simultaneously as defined by standard operating documents. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections, including routine inspections using visual checks or measuring devices per work instructions (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Visually inspect parts for chips, burrs, cleanliness, broken tooling, defective paint, and porosity. Complete scrap tags, mark defective areas of parts, and forward to the supervisor or lead for disposition. Maintain quality of work through visual inspection, testing, and adherence to inspection work instructions; notify the supervisor or lead of any nonconformities and document as required. Maintain a safe and clean work area by following 6S procedures. Follow all ISO procedures and participate in continuous improvement activities. Consistently demonstrate professional behavior (e.g., respectful, cooperative, trustworthy, willing to assist others, and take ownership in problem solving). Track productivity using hour-by-hour boards and communicate machine downtime or other production issues (e.g., part shortages, broken tooling, significant quality concerns). Participate in Kaizen events impacting machining and overall operations.Qualifications:
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions to perform the duties described above. Ability to perform basic arithmetic required for charting, order quantities, and machine or tooling adjustments. Ability to meet production requirements, including takt time, while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to stand for extended periods of time (85-100% of the shift). Basic understanding of part defects, machine operations, tooling requirements, and assembly practices. Ability to identify part defects. Ability to document and communicate part shortages, disruptions, and/or progress during the workday. Written and verbal communication skills to provide next shift with pertinent information regarding instructions, machine operations, part shortages, and schedule changes.Physical Requirements:
