Summary:
Under direction of shift supervisor, the syrup-evaporator operator operates the evaporator, mix tank and accompanying production jobs and keeps plant areas in a clean and orderly condition as directed. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
Must be a self-starter and motivated. Must be able to read and write in English. Must be able to work under a timeline and meet that timeline. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations. Ability to keep focus in stressful situations. Must be trained in the nature and properties of Sanitation chemicals. Must set an example for company values. Must follow company GMPs. Must follow PPE requirements Must be forklift certified Accountability # 1•Essential Functions (80%): Responsible for evaporating syrup Responsible for operating the mix tank Responsible for completing any necessary paperwork in a timely, accurate manner Cleans and maintains work area in proper sanitation condition during and at shift end. Responsible for monthly cleaning of departmental equipment. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area, including written procedures for safe handling and use of chemical compounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, stooping Must be able to work regularly scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Performs other duties relating to the overall effort as directed. Responsible for food safety Will not mishandle equipment in any manner. Properly records sugar usage Properly uses the scan gun to move sugar bags Performs brix tests and records results Cleans In Place (CIP) both the weak syrup evaporator and the mix tank at designated times. Responsible for filling out End of Shift checklist in RedZone and ensuring all tasks have been completed before going home. Monitors and adjusts flow rates and temperatures to ensure targets and specs are met. Gathers samples and tests as needed, cleans inline filters, monitors tank levels, CIP (clean in process) the evaporator, hangs sugar sacks. Cleans IBCs or macro bins as needed Accountability # 2•Quality Assurance (5%): Ensures product meets all product specifications. Properly marks product or materials as directed with
NC/ WIP/FG
codes or other marks. Completes records as necessary. Knows and follows Company HACCP, and GMP procedures. Responsible for food safety Accountability # 3•Sanitation (5%): Keeps work area clean and orderly using common cleaning equipment. Cleans up production area and elsewhere at end of shift as directed. Responsible for cleaning equipment within department (and other areas) during monthly cleans. Accountability # 4•Safety (5%): Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area, including following written procedures for safe handling and use of chemical compounds. Must be familiar with safe machine operations where machinery must be cleaned while running and follow lock out procedures. Knows and follows company safety procedures, including Lock-out/tag-out and PPE requirements Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and safe work practices in assigned area, including written procedures for safe handling and use of chemical compounds. Accountability # 5•Communications (5%): Promptly informs Supervisor of known or anticipated problems Ensures clear and timely communication within department and with other departments to maximize productivity and minimize down time Acts as a team player Must have good written and verbal communication skills Accountability # 6•
