Full Job Description Overview:

Responsibilities:

Applies casts, braces, and splints Provides instructions to patients regarding the care of applied devices Educates patients on the signs and symptoms of possible complications Orders custom braces to include measuring, fitting, and educating patient on use Orders supplies as needed Performs KT-2000 testing Assists supervisor in maintaining inventory of cast room, linen, and cleaning supplies Maintains a clean work area Interacts with patients, faculty, and staff in person and by telephone Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards Regular and prompt attendance Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required Related duties as assigned

Additional Information:

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in orthopaedic technology from an accredited institution Required OR High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of a 1 year program in orthopaedic technology, and 2 years of experience as an orthopaedic technician Required OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience as an orthopaedic technican Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Performs splinting, casting, and application of traction, braces and other devices under the direction of an orthopedic physician or physician assistant. MediumPerforms splinting, casting, and application of traction, braces and other devices under the direction of an orthopedic physician or physician assistant.
