Engineering TechnicianJob Description The Engineering Technician supports the development and production of medical device cartridges and related components by testing and troubleshooting electrical assemblies, building sub-assemblies, and maintaining process equipment. This role works hands-on with electronics, instrumentation, and chemical handling in a laboratory and manufacturing environment, contributing directly to products and tests that impact patients nationwide. Responsibilities

+ Test and troubleshoot electrical assemblies, including populated printed circuit boards and electromechanical builds.

+ Build medical device cartridges, kit components, and sub-assemblies according to specifications and quality standards.

+ Handle chemicals safely and perform routine maintenance on process and laboratory equipment.

+ Operate laboratory instruments and equipment used for testing, assembly, and inspection.

+ Organize and maintain the floor area, workstations, and supplies to support efficient daily operations.

+ Maintain a safe work environment with respect to chemicals, equipment, and manufacturing processes.

+ Support manufacturing activities related to consumables, instruments, and electronics used in medical testing.

+ Perform basic quality control checks on assemblies, components, and finished products as needed.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a service-oriented organization focused on end-to-end product development for medical devices and tests.

+ Assist with assembly and testing activities in cleanroom, workshop, and warehouse testing areas.

+ Follow established procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements for medical device manufacturing.

+ Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in assembly, testing, and equipment maintenance processes. Essential Skills

+ Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical assemblies and components.

+ Experience building sub-assemblies for instruments, consumables, or electronics.

+ Hands-on experience working with electrical hardware such as PCB assemblies, electromechanical builds, and instrumentation maintenance.

+ Ability to operate laboratory equipment and tools safely and effectively.

+ Comfort with chemical handling and adherence to safety protocols.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and procedures.

+ Organizational skills to maintain a clean, well-stocked, and efficient work area.

+ Ability to work in both manufacturing and laboratory environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Manufacturing background, ideally in consumables, instruments, or electronics.

+ Quality control or QC experience in a production or laboratory setting.

+ Laser welding experience in an R D or manufacturing environment.

+ Familiarity with laser cutters and 3D printers in a workshop setting.

+ Interest in medical devices and products that directly impact patient care.

+ Ability to work collaboratively in a close-knit team environment and build long-lasting professional relationships. Work Environment This role is based in a service-oriented organization that supports end-to-end product development for medical devices and tests, including both product design and clinical trial support. The work is split between a cleanroom assembly area, a workshop, and a testing space. Approximately 50% of the time is spent in a cleanroom assembly area using typical manufacturing equipment, inspection tools, welders, and related instruments. Another 50% of the time is spent in a workshop environment that includes laser cutters and 3D printers for prototyping and component fabrication. A minimal portion of time is spent in a warehouse testing area performing product and system tests. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
