You will collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues, directly impacting machine uptime and the overall quality of our manufactured components. Responsibilities Execute the safe and efficient disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of injection molds to minimize production downtime. Utilize precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and height gages, to verify tooling specifications. Operate essential tool room machinery, such as surface grinders, lathes, and Bridgeport mills, to achieve tight tolerances. Perform bench work, including polishing and fitting new details, to ensure optimal mold performance. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues directly on the production floor to maintain continuous operations. Maintain accurate maintenance records and assist in managing component inventory through our computerized maintenance management system. Collaborate with process engineers to implement tool improvements and resolve recurring technical challenges. Qualifications Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent. 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a tool room environment focusing on plastic injection mold repair. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex tooling drawings. Strong understanding of mold and die components and their operational characteristics. Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects. Basic computer literacy and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Preferred Skills Toolmaker or Mold Maker Journeyman certification. 5 to 8 years of experience in injection mold maintenance or prototype tool making. Familiarity with hot runner manifold systems such as Mold-Masters or Synventive. Experience with CMMS software or SAP for maintenance tracking. Completion of a trade school program or relevant college coursework. Ownership of or ability to acquire essential hand tools for daily maintenance tasks.
