Job Description

Job Summary:
The Senior Process Technician is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining injection molding processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality plastic parts. This position plays a key role in troubleshooting process issues, optimizing cycle times, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The technician will also assist in training and mentoring junior staff and work closely with production, tooling, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and start injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment according to production requirements. Establish and optimize molding parameters to ensure consistent part quality, reduce cycle times, and minimize scrap. Troubleshoot processing issues such as flash, short shots, splay, burns, and dimensional defects. Conduct mold changeovers and ensure proper mold installation and maintenance of water, air, and hydraulic connections. Monitor machine performance and material usage; recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Maintain detailed process documentation, including setup sheets, change logs, and troubleshooting records. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure product compliance with customer specifications and internal standards. Support preventative maintenance activities for molds and machines. Train and mentor junior technicians and machine operators. Uphold and promote safety standards and procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing or plastics preferred. 5+ years of hands-on experience in plastic injection molding, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. In-depth knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and measurement data. Familiarity with scientific molding principles is a plus. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
