Job Title:
Finisher Job Description The Finisher prepares metal products to precise customer specifications by performing grinding, sanding, polishing, and deburring tasks. This role uses a variety of hand and power tools to remove excess metal, smooth surfaces, and ensure each product meets strict quality standards. The Finisher also supports machine operators, assists with general production activities, and maintains a clean and safe work area while handling materials weighing up to 55 lbs. Responsibilities Prepare products to meet customer specifications by performing finishing tasks such as grinding, sanding, polishing, and deburring metal components. Use hand grinders and other finishing tools to remove excess metal and achieve smooth, consistent surfaces. Assist machine operators during downtime by helping with setups, adjustments, and general production support. Operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete finishing and assembly tasks. Inspect finished products and perform quality assurance checks to ensure they meet dimensional, visual, and functional requirements. Read and interpret basic blueprints or work instructions to understand finishing requirements and specifications. Perform general cleaning duties in the work area to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient production environment. Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting items up to 55 lbs as needed during daily tasks. Support kitting and mechanical assembly activities when required to meet production needs. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment to maintain a safe workplace. Essential Skills Prior experience using grinders and hand tools, including comfort with swinging a hammer to straighten parts. At least 3 months of prior production or manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required. Ability to use hand and power tools safely for grinding, sanding, polishing, deburring, and general finishing work. Basic understanding of general production, manufacturing, or construction environments. Capability to read and follow work instructions and basic blueprints related to finishing tasks. Attention to detail to perform accurate inspection and quality assurance of finished products. Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods in a production setting. Reliability and willingness to assist with machine operation and general labor as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in metal finishing, deburring, or polishing in a manufacturing environment.. Familiarity with mechanical concepts and working with metal or concrete materials. Experience with kitting and organizing parts for production. Comfort working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and grinders in a production or construction setting. Ability to interpret basic blueprints or fabrication drawings. Strong work ethic and interest in learning different production processes and departments. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing and production facility that can be warm in the summer, so comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment is important. You work around metal finishing, grinding, and assembly operations, using hand tools, power tools, and grinders as part of daily tasks. Safety is emphasized, and you must wear metatarsal boots and safety glasses while on the production floor. The dress code is casual but requires no shorts or cut-off sleeves to maintain safety standards. The environment offers access to multiple departments and production areas, providing exposure to a variety of processes and equipment, with overtime available based on production needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Le Sueur, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
