Epic Materials Inc dba Krushin It - Ocala, Florida Full-Time | Overtime Available | Occasional Statewide Travel Krushin It is seeking an experienced, motivated Lead Crusher Operator for our concrete recycling and mobile crushing operations. This is not simply a position for someone who can start and stop a crusher. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of production, equipment, safety, and the overall efficiency of the crushing operation. Our production target is 1,000+ tons per day under normal operating conditions, and the successful candidate must understand how to keep a crushing spread productive throughout the workday while maintaining safe operating practices and producing material that meets our specifications. The Lead Crusher Operator will also serve as the site lead in the absence of the Foreman, making leadership ability and an understanding of the entire crushing operation essential. Duties & Responsibilities Safely operate and monitor a mobile impact crushing and screening plant, primarily a Terex Finlay I-120RS. Take ownership of daily crushing production with a normal target of 1,000+ tons per day when site and material conditions allow. Track and report daily production tonnage, operating hours, downtime, fuel usage, and significant equipment or production issues. Continuously monitor the crusher, screen, conveyors, material flow, feed rate, recirculation, and finished product to maximize production without sacrificing safety or equipment life. Properly adjust crusher settings and operating parameters based on incoming material and desired finished product. Recognize production bottlenecks and communicate with excavator, loader, densifier, and other operators to keep material flowing efficiently. Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections. Identify abnormal noises, vibration, temperatures, pressures, belt tracking issues, leaks, wear, or other signs of mechanical problems before they become major failures. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, greasing, basic adjustments, and minor repairs within the operator's abilities. Assist mechanics and management with troubleshooting and repair of crusher, screen, conveyors, stackers, and related equipment. Understand wear components and recognize when blow bars, screens, belts, bearings, and other components require attention or replacement. Maintain a clean and organized crushing plant and work area. Assist with crusher setup, teardown, mobilization, and relocation between jobs. Understand the responsibilities of the excavator/feed operator, densifier operator, loader/yard operator, stacker operation, and general ground personnel sufficiently to coordinate the complete crushing operation. Serve as the site lead when the Foreman is absent, including directing workflow, coordinating employees, maintaining production, and communicating issues to management. Ensure employees working around the crushing spread follow company safety procedures at all times.
Immediately stop work when an unsafe condition exists. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures and ensure no employee enters or works around hazardous equipment without proper safeguards. Follow management and Foreman instructions precisely, including production specifications, equipment procedures, job sequencing, and safety requirements. Communicate clearly with management regarding production, downtime, equipment condition, staffing issues, and anything affecting the day's operation. Be willing to work overtime, extended shifts, and occasional Saturdays as production requires. Be willing to travel throughout Florida for mobile crushing projects. Some projects may require being away from home for several weeks to approximately two months, with employees generally returning home on weekends. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has previous experience operating a mobile impact crusher, crushing/screening plant, aggregate operation, quarry, concrete recycling operation, or similar heavy industrial equipment. We strongly prefer someone who can demonstrate a history of production—not simply years of experience. Candidates should be prepared to discuss: Types and brands of crushers previously operated Materials previously crushed Typical daily or hourly tonnage produced Crusher sizes and configurations Responsibilities for crusher adjustments and maintenance Experience diagnosing mechanical or production problems Experience coordinating loaders, excavators, stackers, screens, or other equipment Experience leading a crew or running a site without direct supervision Required Characteristics Safety first. Production matters, but no production target takes priority over the safety of our employees or equipment. Production-minded. You should naturally pay attention to tonnage, downtime, bottlenecks, and ways to keep the plant running efficiently. Dependable. We need someone who shows up on time, every day, prepared to work. Ambitious. We want someone who takes pride in improving, producing, learning, and taking on additional responsibility. Coachable. You must be able to receive instructions and follow established procedures precisely. Observant. Good crusher operators notice problems before alarms go off or equipment fails. Mechanically inclined. Strong mechanical knowledge is highly preferred. The ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs is a significant advantage. Leadership capable. You must be comfortable directing a small crew and making operational decisions when the Foreman is unavailable. Team-oriented. Crushing production depends on the entire crew. The crusher operator must communicate effectively with the excavator, densifier, loader, and ground personnel rather than treating the crusher as an isolated position. Preferred Experience Mobile impact crushers Terex Finlay equipment I-120RS or similar closed-circuit impact crushing plants Concrete and demolition recycling Aggregate production Screening and recirculating systems Excavators and wheel loaders Conveyor and stacker systems Basic diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting Preventative maintenance Crusher wear parts and replacement Lockout/tagout and heavy-equipment safety procedures Crew leadership or site supervision Physical & Work Requirements This is a hands-on outdoor position in a heavy-equipment environment. Candidates must be comfortable working around dust, noise, heat, mud, concrete, diesel-powered equipment, and changing weather conditions. The position requires climbing on and around equipment for inspections and maintenance, working from the ground as needed, and performing physical tasks associated with operating and maintaining a mobile crushing plant. Travel and overtime are part of this position. What Success Looks Like A successful Lead Crusher Operator at
