Job Description

Job Summary Bay Cast Foundry, LLC is seeking a dependable Furnace Operator to join our overnight melt department. In this role, the Furnace Operator sets up furnaces, prepares and melts metal, and pours metal into molds while following established foundry standard operating procedures. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and safely operate Electric Arc and Induction furnaces, cranes, ladles, and related melting equipment, following foundry standard operating procedures. Select, weigh, and charge raw materials in accordance with melt specifications. Melt and pour metal following established work instructions and safety procedures. Verify metal composition through sampling and testing procedures. Inspect furnace and ladle linings; perform patching, repairs, and relining as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and safety standards. Use a tape measure and read simple visual set-up drawings. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Experience Previous experience working in a foundry melt department. Experience running induction and/or electric arc furnaces (EAF). Technical Skills Basic math skills. Willingness to learn and operate equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn new equipment and processes. Good attendance is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with power tools. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials and equipment as needed for furnace and ladle operations. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods in a hot, industrial foundry environment. Ability to safely operate cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Work Environment This is an overnight, on-site position in the foundry melt department, working directly around furnaces, molten metal, and heavy melting equipment, with exposure to high heat, noise, and typical foundry conditions. Standard shift is Sunday-Friday, 8:00 PM-4:30 AM, with overtime and Saturday shifts as requested. Required to follow all company and safety standards and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in foundry areas.
Pay:
$16.00 - $23.00 per hour
