Position Summary:

The Injection Molding Technician is a hands-on position that is responsible for the set-up and execution of the equipment and processes to produce high quality injection molded products. This position "owns" the molding process and quality responsibilities that result from it. This individual quantifies results, validates the effectiveness of the process and maintains documentation applicable to regulatory and industry requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Ownership of injection molded part quality for the entire company.
• Monitors, assists and troubleshoots existing processes to improve product quality, productivity and overall equipment efficiency.
• Ability to develop new molding processes and machine settings from the ground up for new and existing products.
• Provide technical support and instructions to press operators and other molding personnel.
• Set up and operate standard or specialized machinery and auxiliary equipment as required to produce quality products.
• Observe results of equipment, machinery, personnel and materials to determine or analyze the cause of quality issues or equipment malfunctions. Know how to repair or make necessary adjustments to obtain desired operating results.
• Maintain production, maintenance, deviations and other required records and logs.
• Operate powered mobile equipment abiding by company standards. Move or assist to move any equipment as directed. Assist other trades, departments or people as assigned.
• Operate overhead cranes, change molds and set up machine and auxiliary equipment for production. Properly shut down equipment.
• Monitor and report issues with injection molds and other equipment. Make recommendations for repairs based on production factors such as cycle time, part quality, process capability and tool maintenance history.
• Modify and create 3-axis robot programs to handle parts without causing damage.
• Must facilitate and maintain ISO competencies for the department.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities offered by the company.
• Provide the utmost attention to our safety, environmental and ergonomic efforts.

Qualifications:

• Ability to perform the responsibilities listed above without supervision. If you are willing to learn a few of them, we would still like to hear from you.
• Minimum Education - associate's degree preferred or equivalent experience in an injection molding, manufacturing or maintenance position.
• Fully qualified to start, run and shut down injection molding machines.
• Ability to establish a new molding process and machine settings from scratch.
• Expert in changing molds and using an overhead crane.
• Expert in adjusting process parameters to correct cosmetic and dimensional defects in injection molded parts.
• Must be computer literate and able to perform necessary documentation (set-up sheets, process deviation logs, start up checklist, first piece approval forms, mold safety checklists, etc.)
• This position will require standing up to 100%, lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing, overhead work, kneeling, bending, crawling, pushing, pulling and working at heights.
• RJG and/or Paulson training preferred but not required.
• Ability to take complete ownership of the molding process and quality requirements.

Pay:

$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
