Role:
The Prepress Specialist plays a critical role in the printing production process by preparing and ensuring the accuracy of print files before they go to press. This position involves converting digital files into formats suitable for printing, performing quality checks, and troubleshooting any issues related to color, layout, or resolution. The operator collaborates closely with graphic designers, print technicians, and production managers to maintain high standards of print quality and efficiency. Attention to detail and technical proficiency are essential to minimize errors and reduce waste during the printing process. Ultimately, the Prepress Operator ensures that all print materials meet client specifications and are delivered on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a Prepress Specialist or in a similar role within the printing industry. Proficiency with prepress software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and RIP software. SignAgent software experience a bonus. Strong understanding of color management, file formats, and printing processes. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and print job tickets. Experience with ADA signage set-up
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or certification in graphic arts, printing technology, or a related field. Experience with digital and wide-format roll printing and flatbed printing technologies. Knowledge of workflow automation tools and prepress workflow management systems. Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO or G7. Strong troubleshooting skills related to file preparation and print output. Strong knowledge of graphic design skills
Responsibilities:
Prepare and process digital files for printing, including file conversion, imposition, and proofing. Perform quality control checks on incoming artwork to ensure accuracy, color fidelity, and resolution standards. Collaborate with design and production teams to resolve file issues and optimize print output. Manage workflow to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Maintain detailed records of job specifications, revisions, and production notes. Stay updated on new prepress technologies and software to improve efficiency and quality.
