The ideal candidate will have strong experience in spotting injection molds, fitting mold components, benching, polishing, and final mold assembly . This position requires a thorough understanding of injection mold construction, component fit and function, shutoffs, parting lines, and the level of craftsmanship required to produce high-quality production tooling. This is a hands-on position for an experienced mold maker who can work independently, identify fit and function issues, and bring mold components and assemblies to completion. Primary Responsibilities Spot and fit injection mold components and assemblies. Perform precision spotting of parting lines, shutoffs, slides, lifters, inserts, and other mating components . Bench and hand-fit mold components to achieve proper fit, clearance, alignment, and function. Perform polishing of mold cavities, cores, inserts, and other tooling surfaces to required finishes. Assemble and disassemble injection molds during the mold-building and finishing process. Fit slides, lifters, gibs, wear plates, locks, inserts, ejector components, and other mold components. Verify proper movement and function of mechanical mold components. Identify high spots, interference conditions, mismatches, and other fit-related issues during spotting and assembly. Read and interpret mold designs, CAD drawings, prints, and component details. Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, fits, clearances, and component relationships. Perform handwork using grinders, stones, files, polishing equipment, spotting equipment, and other mold-making tools. Inspect parting lines and shutoffs to ensure proper mold closure and sealing. Troubleshoot mold fit and function issues during final assembly. Work closely with mold makers, machinists, designers, and project personnel to resolve tooling issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Complete assigned work while maintaining quality and project timing requirements. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of hands-on injection mold building, spotting, fitting, benching, and/or polishing experience. Strong experience spotting plastic injection molds . Demonstrated ability to bench and hand-fit precision mold components. Experience polishing mold cavities, cores, and inserts. Strong understanding of injection mold construction and operation. Knowledge of parting lines, shutoffs, slides, lifters, ejector systems, inserts, and mold actions. Ability to read and understand mold designs, engineering drawings, and tooling prints. Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, indicators, calipers, height gauges, and related inspection tools. Ability to identify and correct fit, alignment, clearance, and interference conditions. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship. Preferred Experience Experience in the following areas is highly desirable: Automotive injection molds Prototype and production injection molds Complex slide and lifter systems Large or complex mold assemblies Tight-tolerance tooling Mold repair and engineering changes Final mold assembly and preparation for mold tryout Supporting mold tryouts and correcting tooling issues High-quality cavity and core polishing Skills & Attributes The successful candidate should be: Highly detail-oriented Mechanically skilled Experienced in precision hand fitting Able to troubleshoot tooling problems Quality focused Dependable and organized Comfortable working independently Able to manage multiple priorities in a custom mold-building environment Committed to completing work correctly and on schedule Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to safely handle mold components and tooling. Ability to perform detailed handwork for extended periods. 5+ years required Candidates without direct hands-on injection mold experience will not be considered for this position.
Pay:
From $35.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
