JOB SUMMARY
The Diamond Saw Operator 1 is responsible for the set up and operation of the saws.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Load and unload saws with an overhead crane. Review production tickets to determine cuts that are necessary for the stone. Review work to ensure it meets production ticket specifications before and after cutting. Level and square stone on saw bed. Index the saw blade to the correct size and dimension based upon the stone being cut. Brace and wedge stone to prevent it from moving while it is being cut. Apply patterns and layout stone to best utilize raw stone material. Load pre-programmed profiles from the network and input manual cuts as needed. Operate saw according to layout and order specifications for both straight and angle cuts. Reattach slab labels or label each slab after cuts have been completed. Scan bar code on production tickets to record work performed in JDE system. Requirements Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operate a forklift). General computer skills. Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production. Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency. Mechanically inclined. General math skills. Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings. Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric. Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed.
