  • 6:00am (Train on Day Shift, Fri
  • Sun, 6am
  • 6:30pm.
) BBSI is currently accepting applications for a Furnace Operator for our manufacturing client in Milwaukie. Job Summary The Furnace Operator operates vacuum and air casting equipment safely to produce high-quality parts. Follows all procedures and help improve efficiency, quality, and costs. Main Responsibilities 1. Flexibility Train and work in different casting and metal prep roles Work different shifts, including weekends, as needed Support multiple areas based on daily production needs 2. Preparation (Before Casting) Review schedules and communicate with supervisors Set up equipment, molds, and materials Inspect and clean molds before use Follow furnace plans and work instructions Install required components (filters, fixtures, insulation, etc.) Load furnaces and monitor cycles Check equipment (vacuum, hydraulics, power systems) Measure and load metal alloys correctly Identify problems and help find solutions Complete required training and certifications 3. Furnace Operation Melt and pour metal into molds following procedures Operate equipment (furnaces, cranes, hoists, etc.) Monitor and record process data Perform calibrations and use computer systems Move hot molds safely Document issues and feedback May handle hazardous materials (with training) 4. Maintenance & Safety Keep work area clean and organized Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs Help troubleshoot equipment issues Track equipment performance and report problems Maintain accurate logs and reports Support team training and provide guidance when needed Participate in audits and improvement efforts Follow all safety, quality, and production standards Promote a safe work environment Key Goals Cross-train employees in different casting methods Stay flexible to meet customer demand with less inventory Recognize strong performance and leadership Equipment Used Furnaces (induction and burnout) Vacuum and hydraulic systems Cranes, hoists, forklifts Hand tools and measuring tools Welding and cutting equipment Data systems and monitoring tools Training On-the-job training with certifications required Must meet performance standards to advance Forklift certification required May require hazardous waste training Qualifications Experience with furnace or casting operations (or similar) Ability to follow instructions and technical procedures Basic math skills (add, subtract, percentages, etc.) Good communication skills Able to work independently and in a team Physically able to work in a hot environment We encourage individuals who are passionate about the manufacturing industry to apply!
