Job Description

Job Title:
Grinder/Shop Laborer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated individual to grind and finish cast parts, ensuring accurate tolerances using belt grinders and die grinders. You will be responsible for inspecting quality using gauges and precision measuring tools, assisting with plant cleanup in the foundry, and handling materials by moving parts off conveyor lines and onto carts for transport to other departments. The position operates on a day shift with regular hours from 4am to 2:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Fridays as needed. Responsibilities Grind and finish cast parts using belt grinders and die grinders. Ensure tolerances are accurate and inspect quality using gauges and precision tools. Assist with plant cleanup in the foundry. Handle materials by moving parts off conveyor lines and placing them onto carts for transport. Be available for potential overtime work on Fridays. Essential Skills Experience with general labor and heavy lifting. Proficiency in belt grinding and die grinding. Familiarity with industrial labor and production environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to lift 50 lbs. Comfortable wearing a loose-fitting respirator for grinding. Comfortable working around industrial machinery. Work Environment The role is set in a foundry manufacturing environment making metal cast parts from sand molds. It involves working around heavy machinery and equipment, often in loud areas. Protective equipment worn includes a hard hat, earplugs, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, a high-visibility vest, and in some departments, a loose-fitting respirator. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
