Position Responsibilities:
Independently set up, operate, and adjust various types of grinders, including thread, internal, centerless, external (i.e. outside diameter), and surface grinders, to meet quality specifications. Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to check machined parts for finish and dimensions. Select and secure appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine attachments to efficiently accomplish assigned work. Interpret charts, blueprints, sketches, and job layouts, utilizing shop mathematics, including trigonometry, for accurate setups. Perform layout work for assigned tasks and sequence work operations effectively. Ensure full utilization of machine capacities while minimizing machining time and the number of setups. Adjust the feed of oils and coolants as necessary during operations. Detect faulty tools and take corrective action according to shop practices and procedures. Obtain work packages and ensure all necessary documentation, including work orders and drawings, is available at the machine. Perform safety checks on machines, ensuring the work area is clear of obstacles and that grinding wheels are free from damage. Operate various grinders while adhering to engineering drawing tolerances, including concentricity and flatness. Check parts dimensionally using precision instruments, such as micrometers and bore gauges, to ensure compliance with specifications. Access and set machine coordinates or index points using NC and CNC programs at the machine controller. Submit in-process or finished work to inspectors as required by work orders or shop policy. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and maintain personal and tool certifications.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs. Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants. Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards. Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions. Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Current Boeing employees working in Oregon must submit an Employee Request Transfer (ERT) to be considered in the eligible candidate pool. Basic Qualifications:
Relevant experience can include academic qualifications, military service, or other industry-related roles. 3+ years' experience in operating Grinders 3+ years' experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints 3+ years' experience with using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, etc Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds

Typical Education & Experience:
High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay:
$31.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $59.47/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
