As a Wastewater Operations Supervisor, based in Vancouver, WA, you will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing internal and external compliance programs, and delivering safe, efficient, and reliable wastewater treatment plant performance. The Supervisor plays a critical role in preventive and continuous plant operation and encourages facility operational improvement plans, while meeting contractual and performance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations- Supervise wastewater treatment plant operations staff
- Plan, schedule, assign, and review work activities for operations staff
- Act as Operator in Charge (OIC) "Responsible Operator" as required
- Ensure NPDES compliance along with other federal, state, and local regulatory permits and requirements
- Respond to operational upsets, emergencies, and on-call situations
- Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and performance feedback
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and safe work practices Maintenance & Technical Responsibilities
- Support as required or necessary planned, scheduled, facility maintenance activities performed by our internal maintenance team or contractors on mechanical, electrical, and power generation systems
- Diagnose process equipment failures, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, and mechanical illustrations
- Review equipment specifications and drawings for facility improvements, repairs, and replacements
- Support new equipment installations, process updates and projects
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements Asset Management & Administration
- Coordinate with internal team members to support the facility asset management program and CMMS platform
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of operations staff work orders, and documentation
- Assist the Project Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and estimating costs and project timelines
- Prepare and submit reports, proposals, and operational performance metrics
- Maintain a weekly operational meeting with the client
- Ensure contractual standards and deliverables are being met
- High school diploma or GED (technical training or associate degree preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of wastewater treatment operations experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator IV Certification (or ability to obtain one within 6 months)
- Experience with asset management systems and CMMS
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, mechanical and electrical systems, and safety practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized maintenance systems
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local wastewater regulations
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
- 10+ years of experience operating wastewater treatment facilities and associated mechanical systems such as engines, pumps, generators, motors, vehicles, and wastewater process equipment
- 5 years of experience supervising and leading personnel, training, and workforce development
