Job Description
About the Role DFM Arms is looking for a skilled manufacturing technician to support our plastics production team. This position focuses on setting up and maintaining injection molding equipment, ensuring consistent part quality, and assisting production personnel in meeting daily manufacturing goals. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working around industrial equipment, and capable of troubleshooting molding processes while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Primary DutiesProduction Equipment Setup Install and prepare molds for production runs Connect required utilities, including cooling circuits and auxiliary equipment Prepare production materials, including drying and blending when required Verify equipment readiness before releasing jobs to production Complete tooling changes efficiently to support production schedules Process Monitoring & Operation Launch production jobs using documented process standards Observe machine performance during startup and throughout production Maintain established process settings and product quality requirements Perform proper machine and tooling shutdown procedures when production is complete Process Optimization Adjust molding parameters when needed to maintain acceptable part quality Fine-tune variables such as fill rate, hold pressure, cooling duration, and temperature settings Identify molding concerns and implement corrective actions Escalate advanced process issues when additional technical support is required Manufacturing Support Assist operators and production personnel with machine-related issues Investigate and address common molding defects Support efforts to reduce downtime, scrap, and production interruptions Help maintain smooth workflow throughout the shift Quality & Team Leadership Provide guidance and oversight to production associates during assigned portions of the shift Perform routine inspections to verify product conformance Coordinate with quality personnel regarding production concerns and corrective actions Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding production status Workplace Responsibilities Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing area Follow company safety procedures and operating standards Assist with additional manufacturing tasks as business needs require QualificationsRequired Experience Previous experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, machine setup, or process technician roles Ability to independently perform mold installations and production startups Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Background Experience with tooling changeovers and mold utility connections Knowledge of common molding defects and corrective actions Familiarity with production manufacturing environments Experience using measurement tools and verifying part specifications Ideal Candidate We're seeking someone who: Takes ownership of production performance Works well with both operators and management Enjoys solving manufacturing problems Can balance quality, efficiency, and safety Brings a positive, team-oriented attitude to the workplace Compensation & Benefits Eligible employees may receive: Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Paid Time Off Employee Referral Program Location Requirement This position is based at our manufacturing facility in Gallatin, Tennessee and requires regular on-site attendance.
