Austin Fire & Flood is looking for an experienced Lead Restoration Technician to join our mitigation team. This is a hands-on field position for someone who already understands restoration work and can help guide technicians in the field while working alongside them. We're looking for someone who knows how to do the work correctly, communicates well, takes initiative, and can help train and mentor less-experienced technicians. Previous water damage restoration/mitigation experience is required. What You'll Do As a Lead Restoration Technician, you'll work on residential and commercial restoration projects throughout the Austin area. You'll perform mitigation work while also helping technicians stay organized, follow proper procedures, and complete quality work. Depending on the job, your responsibilities may include: Perform water extraction and structural drying Set up, monitor, and adjust air movers, dehumidifiers, and other drying equipment Take and document moisture readings Identify affected materials and assist with determining the appropriate mitigation approach Perform selective demolition and removal of damaged drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinets, and other materials Perform or assist with fire and smoke cleanup Perform or assist with mold remediation Clean and sanitize affected areas Assist with contents handling, pack-outs, and protection of customer belongings Take job-site photos and complete required documentation Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites Properly use, clean, and maintain restoration equipment Communicate professionally with customers and team members Help technicians understand job expectations and proper procedures Train and mentor technicians in restoration techniques, equipment use, documentation, and job-site practices Help keep the crew productive and the job moving throughout the day This is a working Lead Technician position. You'll be performing restoration work alongside the crew, not simply directing others. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Has previous water damage restoration or mitigation experience Understands structural drying and the proper use of restoration equipment Is comfortable taking and documenting moisture readings Has experience with demolition and removal of water-damaged materials Understands job-site safety and proper use of PPE Can work independently and make good decisions in the field Can help train and mentor less-experienced technicians Communicates clearly and professionally Takes initiative without needing constant direction Keeps jobs organized and pays attention to details Treats customers, coworkers, and their property with respect Is dependable and understands that the crew is counting on them IICRC certifications, including WRT, are strongly preferred. Pay & Schedule $25
  • 29 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Schedule and weekly hours vary based on job volume and customer needs This is a workload-based position, so a minimum number of hours per week is not guaranteed Some jobs may require early mornings, evenings, or extended days depending on the situation Participation in a rotating after-hours and weekend on-call schedule is required Restoration work can be unpredictable.
Some weeks are busier than others, and emergency jobs don't always happen during regular business hours. We're looking for someone who understands that flexibility is part of working in the restoration industry.
