Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Senior Injection Molding Process Technician with strong hands-on experience in plastic injection molding. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced molding professional who enjoys troubleshooting, optimizing processes, reducing scrap and downtime, and mentoring other team members. The successful candidate will become a key technical resource within the manufacturing operation, with potential for future growth into a broader leadership role. Key Responsibilities Set up, start up, troubleshoot, and optimize plastic injection molding machines and processes. Perform mold changes, material changes, machine startups/shutdowns, and purging procedures. Establish and maintain process parameters, including injection speed, pressure, temperature, cooling time, holding pressure, screw recovery, and cycle times. Troubleshoot molding defects such as short shots, flash, sink marks, burns, warpage, splay, weld lines, dimensional variation, and color variation. Identify and resolve machine, mold, material, and process-related production issues. Improve cycle times while maintaining product quality and customer specifications. Reduce scrap, downtime, and process variation through troubleshooting and continuous improvement. Support mold trials, new product launches, process development, validation, and capability studies. Install, remove, clean, inspect, and perform basic troubleshooting of molds. Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, temperature-control, and material-handling systems. Operate and troubleshoot auxiliary equipment, including dryers, loaders, blenders, chillers, mold-temperature controllers, granulators, and hot runner systems. Set up and monitor robotics, sprue pickers, conveyors, and automated production equipment. Maintain accurate setup sheets, process documentation, production records, and troubleshooting logs. Support quality activities, first-article inspections, production approvals, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Assist with preventive maintenance and coordinate equipment or mold repairs as needed. Train and mentor operators and junior technicians on machine operation, process control, safety, and defect identification. Promote safety, 5S, continuous improvement, and efficient manufacturing practices. Communicate effectively across shifts and provide technical guidance to production personnel. Required Qualifications 10+ years of plastic injection molding, process technician, molding technician, or related manufacturing experience preferred. Strong hands-on experience setting up and troubleshooting injection molding machines. Experience with mold changes, machine startups/shutdowns, and material changes. Strong understanding of injection molding process parameters and optimization. Proven ability to troubleshoot molding defects and determine root causes. Experience with hydraulic, electric, or hybrid injection molding machines. Knowledge of molds, hot runner systems, cooling systems, and material handling. Experience with dryers, chillers, loaders, blenders, granulators, and temperature controllers. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, process, material, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues. Experience with robotics, sprue pickers, conveyors, or automated production cells preferred. Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, scales, and other inspection equipment. Strong understanding of safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement practices. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Strong communication, mentoring, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Scientific molding training or experience. Experience with SPC and process monitoring systems. Experience supporting mold trials and new product launches. Experience with process validation and capability studies. Experience with hot runner systems and robotics. Experience training or mentoring production employees and junior technicians. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Experience processing multiple thermoplastic materials. Preferred Materials Experience Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: ABS, polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, polycarbonate, acetal, PET, PVC, TPU/TPE, glass-filled materials, mineral-filled materials, regrind, and recycled-content materials.
