Production Supervisor / Production Manager About the Role We are looking for a skilled and dependable Injection Molding Technician to join our manufacturing team. The Injection Molding Technician will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting injection molding equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production of high-quality parts. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of injection molding processes. This position will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify and resolve process issues while maintaining production and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Set up, start up, and monitor injection molding machines and production processes. Perform mold changes, machine setups, and production changeovers as required. Adjust machine and process parameters to maintain consistent part quality and production efficiency. Troubleshoot common molding defects including short shots, flash, warping, sink marks, burns, dimensional variation, and other quality issues. Monitor cycle times, scrap rates, material usage, and overall machine performance. Inspect molded parts to ensure they meet established quality and dimensional specifications. Operate and monitor auxiliary equipment including material loaders, dryers, chillers, temperature controllers, and related systems. Assist with robot and automated part-removal systems as needed. Identify equipment or process problems and work with Maintenance and Engineering to resolve issues. Maintain accurate production and process documentation. Follow established work instructions, process sheets, safety procedures, and quality requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Communicate production issues, equipment concerns, and quality problems to the Production Supervisor. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing scrap, improving cycle times, and increasing overall equipment efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years of experience working with injection molding equipment and processes preferred. Basic understanding of injection molding machines, molds, auxiliary equipment, and material handling systems. Ability to set up, start up, and monitor injection molding machines and production processes. Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and address equipment or process problems. Ability to troubleshoot common injection molding defects and make appropriate process adjustments. Ability to read and follow work instructions, process sheets, safety procedures, and quality specifications. Basic understanding of measurements and the ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality parts. Ability to work independently and effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams. Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials, molds, and equipment as required. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or different shifts as needed.
Preferred:
Experience working with thermoplastics and a variety of resin materials. Experience with process optimization, scrap reduction, and cycle-time improvement. Familiarity with mold maintenance, mold changes, and hot runner systems. Experience with robots, dryers, chillers, material loaders, temperature controllers, and other auxiliary equipment. Knowledge of scientific molding principles and process troubleshooting. Experience with automated production systems. Technical training or certification in plastics, manufacturing, mechanical technology, or a related field.
