High School Diploma or equivalent; technical education or relevant training preferred Description The Equipment Technician III is responsible for supporting furnace performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency for assigned furnaces used in the production of glass boules. This role monitors key process variables and equipment performance, develops and reviews furnace run plans, and coordinates operational and maintenance activities to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The Equipment Technician III works closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, equipment specialists, and management to troubleshoot issues, analyze production data, prioritize maintenance needs, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Monitor furnace operation during production runs and verify equipment is operating according to established set points and standards. Monitor process and equipment variables and identify conditions that may impact product quality or equipment performance. Analyze furnace and production data to identify trends, abnormalities, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure equipment and processes remain within established tolerances and operating standards. Review and create documentation and furnace run plans for new and existing production runs. Review previous production runs to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities. Prioritize equipment and maintenance issues for production and operational meetings. Conduct detailed reviews of defective production runs to identify potential equipment or process-related causes. Respond to operator questions and provide guidance related to equipment operation and established procedures. Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to address equipment issues in a timely manner. Ensure equipment, process, safety, and quality requirements are followed consistently. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, process performance, quality, and OEE. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to equipment performance, production runs, and maintenance activities. Travel approximately 5% as required. Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing, production, process, or equipment-related environment. Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve process or equipment issues. Experience analyzing process or equipment data and identifying trends or abnormalities. Strong understanding of equipment operation, maintenance practices, and production processes. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions using established procedures and standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and management teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, maintenance needs, and production requirements. Ability to work independently, gather information, and follow through on assignments with limited supervision. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and other basic computer applications. Ability to work onsite in Canton, NY.
